Unveiling TEDxLahoreWomen '16 - TEDxLahore To Bring Inspirational Individuals In Its Upcoming Event

TEDxLahore is all ready to hold its new event – TEDxLahoreWomen following its recent success of Lahore 2016 event.

The event aims to brings individuals from different heads at a single platform to allow them to share the journey of their phenomenal success over the passage of time.

TED is short for Technology, Entertainment and Design), a conference platform known for conducting sessions in which speakers do inspirational speeches and talks about current trends of the industry. Professionals from astronomy, music, psychology and others take part and talk to present ideas that are worth spreading all over globe.

TEDx is a subsidiary of Ted and it works under the same head and is modeled around providing communities and individuals way to come together and benefit from up-to-date information.

The event - TEDxLahoreWomen will see women from inspirational backgrounds including education, entertainment, social activism adding spark with their speeches on successes and failures experienced during their lifetime.

Following are the women who are participating in the upcoming event.

Sarah Zaman

She is an exceptional singer, excelled in South Asian Classical Music under phenomenal music experts who have taught her to do magical solo performances. She actively participated in Annual All Pakistan Music Conference, for which she received much appreciation. Not just this, she has received Lifetime Achievement Award for her participation in music given by ALAAP. Also a member who founded NCA, she has ever contributed for the cause of music. Currently, she is also a part of Women’s Action Forum’s (WAF) Tribute to Multifaceted Talent of the Women of Pakistan.

Mahira Khan

Woman in power, Mahira Khan is a phenomenal actor known for her superb acting in many renowned plays such as Humsafar, Shehrezaat and Sadqay Tumhare. Previously, she debuted for screen by doing a supporting role in a film called Bol. Since then, her journey for ever-growing success has continued. She did two Pakistani Films, Ho Mann Jahaan and Bin Roye adding to her limelight. Now she has set foot for her role with Bollywood block buster movie star Shahrukh Khan in the upcoming movie called Raees, predictable to release in 2017. 

Zainab Chughtai

Zainab is a lawyer by profession. She started a campaign to work for the cause – anti-bullying for which she did workshops and addressed as much as 4000 students in different institutions of Lahore. To shape up her counselling skills, Zainab has enrolled to become certified humanistic counselor in UK. Her most recent campaign is Battling Body Shaming, viral throughout the globe.

Faiza Saleem

Honored for being the only female entertainer in social media, Faiza Saleem is leading Pakistan’s first all-girls group called the “The Khawatoons”. On part of this, she has the honor of doing more than fifty theatrical plays and comedy shows. Further, she has done ironic music videos as well. In an effort to encourage culture of improv throughout the country, she has taken the initiative to co-produce a show named “The Improv Jam”.

Sophia Kasim Kasuri

Sophia is a well-known professional behind the ECD (Early Childhood Development). Specializing in child education in the early years, Kasuri has over a decade experience in the work and now running setups in Karachi and Lahore.

Hala Bashir Malik

A professional educator and architect, Hala is a serving in Razia Hassan School of Architecture as an assistant professor for teaching design. She has participated in the Walled City Project for the Aga Khan Cultural Service Program.

On her part to cater social services, she co-founded a program – Resettling the Indus following the flood aftermath in 2010 to help torn-off families to settle and rebuild their communities.
